Tips to Care for Pearls:

• Storage: Store your pearl jewelry in a soft bag, a velvet box, or a satin pouch. Pearls should not touch other jewelry or hard objects. When wearing pearls with clothing, opt for soft materials. Avoid pairing them with rough textures, such as wool.

• Chemical Protection: Since pearls contain calcium carbonate, they can be damaged by acids. Protect pearls from chemicals such as vinegar, alcohol, ammonia, hair spray, bleach, perfume, swimming pool water, and cosmetics. Always put on your pearls after applying makeup, hair spray, and perfume, and wear them over clothing rather than directly on your skin.

• Avoiding Sweat: Avoid wearing pearls when you sweat, as sweat contains acid. Remember to remove pearls while exercising, swimming, or showering.

• Perfume and Smoke: Pearls can absorb perfume and hair spray, so refrain from wearing them during visits to hair salons or while cooking; they can absorb smoke and steam.

• Humidity and Heat: Pearls contain small amounts of water and protein, so keep them away from high heat and dry environments. Avoid prolonged sun exposure.

• Fresh Air and Moisture: Being organic, pearls need fresh air and moisture. Wear them at least once a month.

• Regular Cleaning: Pearls can absorb perfume, skin oils, and dirt. Wipe them regularly with a soft cloth moistened with water.

• Dealing with Scratches: If you scratch a pearl, gently rub the scratched area with olive oil.

When to Have Pearls Restrung:

If you wear your pearls often, they should be restrung approximately once a year to prevent strand breakage. We suggest using silk thread; however, nylon thread is an acceptable alternative. The thread should be knotted between each pearl to prevent all pearls in a strand from falling off should a break occur. Knotting also helps prevent damage from pearls rubbing against each other.

14"/35cm is the length which stays right with the necklace, this length is normally a tailor made length specially requested by customers.

16" & 18" are general lengths to wear, these two lengths are good to go with most of the girls.
